I forgot to finish the review on this campground while we were still there. So, here is a review from memory.
This campground is considered BLM but this place was renovated by an off-roading group. It’s completely free and it’s first come, first serve – sort of.
You need a permit. Call the Farmington BLM field office at 505.564.7600 – they will email the permit form to you. Fill it out and email it back for confirmation. Then stick it in your vehicle window. Super simple. There is a 14 day stay limit just like other BLM camping.
There aren’t any hookups. There is a free dump on site.
This is an RV park that an offroading club made… so there are A LOT of RZRs, 4x4s, and Jeeps driving in and out. If you don’t like that, you probably won’t like this park.
Just about all the sites will fit a 30′ rig – about half of them will fit a rig our size (42′).
SITE QUALITY: 3/5 – The site we picked was very unleveled. Some sites were good. Some where terrible.
PET FRIENDLINESS: 5/5 – Pets are allowed and there are lots of trails nearby to take them out on.
CELL SIGNAL: 5/5 – Cell signal was good for both AT&T and Verizon.
THE VIEW: 4/5 – The view was beautiful at night – the sunsets were great! There isn’t much around other than a few other RVers.
LOCATION: 4/5 – The location was great. You go about a mile or so down a dirt road and the RV sites will be to your left. There are people boondocking off this road also. It’s not too far from town – maybe a 5-10 minute drive.
Overall, we loved this park. We stayed a little over a week. A lot of people ran their generators all day and all night long. So if you’re a solar person, you may not enjoy this place on the weekends… 😛
